Comment: Married Suzy Holman (LOHS '71) in 1976, moved to NYC for biz school and then to the Bay Area where we raised our 4 boys. One married with a grandson, one engaged, and the 2 youngest still trying to find a match. I worked in finance, brokerage and money mgmt till a few years ago when I met an Indian programmer and we have been working on getting a couple of software start ups to start up. I'm going to try and make the reunion but kind of doubtful as we have are doing a "double move" in mid August. We have been trying to retire to Santa Fe NM for a few years, but hard to do it when you are enjoying working, so we decided to buy a house in Santa Fe and are moving to an apartment in San Francisco at the same time, thinking we go back & forth till we decide it's time to quit! If you are going to be in either place drop me a note and we can get a coffee or a cocktail! All the best, I have great memories of my time at LOHS and get to Lake Oswego occaisionally to see my Mom who is still doing well at 94 yrs old! |

1970-71 - Duck U- 1971-73 - UC Berkeley 1973-74 - Goettingen, Germany (study abroad thing) March 75- Graduate from Cal in Physical Sciences (Mostly chemistry, physics, and math - and German) April 75- no companies know what to do with a Phys Sci major 1975-76 - Chemical Engineering courses (mostly) at Cal 1976-March 78 - MS in Chem Eng from UW Thesis was numerical analysis of particle deposition in the lung. Yes, smoking is bad for you. 1978 - 1981 - Chevron Research in Richmond, CA (not a great choice) 1981- 1986 - PhD in Chem Eng. at Cal "The Kinetics of Structure Development in Liquid Crystal Polymers" November 1982 - Cal beats Stanford with The Play, and yes - I was there. OK, twelve years in school seems like enough. 1986 - 1990 - Bell Labs manufacturing research in Princeton, NJ. I developed conductive composites. It was fun hanging out with the Murray Hill folks who were working on high-temperature superconductors (remember those? Current density was too low.) and cold fusion (They wanted to fire a palladium bullet saturated with deuterium into a steel plate. Nixed by safety.) April 1990 - It SNOWS. Really? In April? June 1990 - Bell Labs for optical fiber manufacturing in Atlanta 1992 - married to Sherry O'Daniell 1994 - Erin is born November 2005 to now - Corning optical fiber development, Wilmington NC. 15-ish patents I'm planning to retire in May '22. Wilmington is pretty nice - college town of about 100,000. Beach is 5 miles away. Also has some unfortunate history - look up the 1898 coup if you haven't heard of it. On the downside, it's flat, and HUMID in the summer. Oh, and hurricanes: the season starts June 1st and lasts 5 months. We had to evacuate to Georgia in 2018; Florence ran right over our house. Not much damage, fortunately. I sure hope the reunion is on; I haven't been to one since 2000, and I'd love to catch up with OLD friends. And it sure would be great if some REAL holdouts would show up (*cough* Malcolm Brown *cough* Scott Cohen *cough*). Fifty-one years is long enough, don't you think, guys? |

Comment: I graduated from Oregon State University and spent most of my career in the high-tech industry with Hewlett-Packard as a systems administrator in Human Resources, ending with 2 1/2 years contracting with Nike. My latest volunteer work is with Oregon State University Extension's Oregon Bee Atlas, which is a branch of the state of Oregon's pollinator health initiative, The Oregon Bee Project. I am currently studying to be a Master Melittologist. To see an Oregon native bee under a microscope, and to observe the native bees in the wild is an incredible experience for me. I currently live in Arch Cape. |

Cheri and I bought a 1946 cottage in old LO in 2010 and we have been remodeling it every since. We love living in downtown LO, walking distance to everything we need. Full circle for me, after spending most of my youth at Newton's Ice Cream store on B Avenue. I'm really enjoying my retirement spending time golfing and fishing and still working part-time as a consultant/broker for a grocery industry health insurance Trust. Cheri retired from being a teacher of the deaf and is enjoying being a grandmother, golfing, reading, and keeping track of our dog Charlie. We enjoy travel and golfing together. Our kids Kyle (37) and Cori (34) have both married and live in Oregon which we love. Kyle and his wife Allison have two kids and live in LO - keeping the family tradition alive. Their kids will be at Rivergrove Elementary this fall. Cori and her husband Hank live in Eugene and have one 2 year old and a 1 year old. We love being grandparents and all that goes along with it. |

Well this ol' boy has gained too many pounds in the last 10 years, but how else do you get that grandfatherly look? So I guess the assignment is to tell everyone what I did last summer...... Just got back from a vacation to the Philippines. Sailed down the coast from Seattle to Santa Cruz, CA in my boat Ciao. Found out I did not like long distance sailing as much as I thought I would. Had the boat trucked back to her home port of Tacoma. . Career: Worked for compainies in the transportation and logistic field in operations to include: T-Mobile, Zulily.com; Amazon.com; Airborne Express and HP Corvallis Division . Schooling: OSU....Go Beavs . Happily married with a blended family of 5 kids and 9 grandchildren. And yes I can still name all 9 grandchildren. . Hobbies: Sailing, reading and traveling. In the last 20 years we have been lucky enough to travel to over 25 countries around the world. The most interesting of which was hiking the Camino de Santiago in the Northern Part of Spain where I met folks from around the world. . Enjoy the time together this summer at the country club where I use to caddy with Mark Stevens on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Best part was caddy day every week where we got to play on the course. Reminds me of Caddyshake. . I have a good life and wish only the best for everyone else. . E . |
