Hi everyone.50+ years since we walked away from LOHS. Seems impossible... I'm planning to attend the reunion and looking forward to connecting with old... and I mean OLD classmates again. I'm a retired clinical pharmacist & computer software design consultant. Active in my church, jam sessions with keyboard/boogie woogie, sing bass, bicycling, rafting and traveling. Married 47 years to my lovely wife Marcia. We reside in Grants Pass, where we have lived since 1977. We get to enjoy our two grandsons daily and are amazed at what they come up with! We snowbird 5 months a year in So. California an hour SE of Palm Springs. I'm into old cars and trucks and enjoy working with my hands fixing and creating things. Our two sons are both engineers (Civil and Mechanical). They both enjoy the outdoors like their dad. Hope to see you soon! |

Comment: 50 years and counting - wow! Looking forward to catching up with all of you. In those years behind us I have three kids all serving in one great capacity or another. Daughter Kim serves in an oncology clinic, Alex is a firefighter and paramedic, and Matt serves the intellectually challenged as a teacher. I've been in for profit and non profit organizations and in the last 12 years have served the IDD population as a behavioralist through a therapeutic program we established for those abandoned. My wife Laura is the steady one with currently 38 years (and counting) serving the oncological needs of patients in the Salem and Portland area. Our paths have taken us to serve kids with cancer as well as help with broader community needs of those in China, Zimbabwe, Nicaragua, and Panama. However, in the last five years I have layed down my golf clubs and taken up fly rods and drift boats as we find respite with each other here in the heart of Oregon on the upper McKenzie River. Frost wrote: Be happy, Happy, Happy And seize the day of pleasure. It lives less in the present Than in the future always, And less in both together than in the past... May we all find great happiness and pleasure in the memories (of 50+ years) we share. My best to all of you. Tg |

My post-high school life has been full, to say the least. I got my Masters in Clinical Social Work (MSW) at age 24 and specialized in gerontology (ie. us now!), first as a US Bank Trust Officer working with special needs trusts and then I sprung out and started a career in private geriatric and long term care management. After being married, divorced, widowed at 33, and commuting to London for years with another attempt at marriage, I met Bill Verner in 1995 and we have worked and lived together for 26 years. In 1996, I decided to make life more complicated and bought my favorite B&B, beautiful Boreas Inn, located beachside in Long Beach, WA. Many of my classmates have been to visit us at Boreas. Bill and I hosted about 32,000 guests in 25 years, prepared a zillion 4 course breakfasts and in the nick of time, before complete exhaustion, we sold the Inn in May, 2021. Whew! We just moved two miles south to Seaview, WA to a brand new, and much smaller property and we are relieved to be here in a wonderful, old Victorian neighborhood! We have the perennials planted and the lawns seeded. I never stopped being a clinical social worker, and for 11 years have worked with dialysis patients and as a clinical supervisor for other social workers. I have four step-kids, 6 grandkids from them, one (step) great-grandson, two kitties and I've wracked up a lot of air miles and regret not a minute. I don't think I can ever retire, so I'm living vicariously through many of you but do try to land annually in the Yucantan Peninsula or Hawaii and occasionally to Israel to see family each year! I have had a non-stop amazing life and a memoir should be in the works. I love keeping in touch with many of my LOHS classmates and look forward to seeing you soon!! |

Comment: After graduating from U of O, I worked for a non profit in LA; went back to school in Boston for a Masters, married a Boston native, and settled in New England. I worked in fisheries management on Cape Cod and Gloucester, MA. My husband and I renovated an old ark of a house in Gloucester, and had a lot of fun doing it….but dammit, he passed away before he could enjoy the finished product. While he and I had no children, thanks to my current partner I now have step children and grandchildren too! I love New England and spend as much time outside as I can—dog walks, gardening, and kayaking. I get back to Oregon every few years, but this is not one of them. Best wishes from Gloucester. |

Comment:
Dear LOHS friends and classmates – so far from my sight, yet so close to my memories! I’ve spent the better part of my adult life living outside the United States, first travelling and working in Latin America (Brazil and other points) and for the past 28 years in Paris, France, where I’ve worked at the OECD – an intergovernmental think tank – on projects designed to help improve the lives and aspirations of the billions of people living in extreme poverty in the developing world. Thanks to the support of my beloved mother-in-law Lali and France's enlightened social values and policies, I have been able to combine a continuously challenging and deeply satisfying international career with motherhood. I have three wonderful daughters whom I’ve raised to be strong, independent, and purposive women -- and they are all well on the way to being just that: Kathryn is finishing a master’s degree in business in France, Amalie is studying to be a teacher in the UK, and Raundi Jr. will soon begin doctoral studies in chemistry in the US. I’ve had such a wonderful life so far -- I’ve been so fortunate! I look forward to seeing all of you at the reunion! |
